Bits And Bobs #21

Shirt by Olymp, Silk/Linen Trousers by H&M, Heavyknit Cardigan by H&M, Big Safety Pin, Shoes by SWEAR, Vinage Greek Fisherman Hat

It's the first time I bought a non-H&M white shirt. I wanted to have a shirt with a neater collar than the ones of H&M. I was lucky enough to find this shirt on sale and it's even made out of poplin cotton, which makes it harder to get wrinkles in. I'm not quite satisfied with the pictures above, but I was in a hurry and didn't have enough time to make some better ones. When you're reading this, I'm already on my way to Venice (Italy) for the annual Biennale. I'm back on Sunday but I have prepared some scheduled blog entries for you while my absence.

Neda

You've probably heard of the current situation in Iran. I've been following the events since yesterday afternoon on Twitter and have been participating by retweeting important messages through a seperate account, that I've created. Even the press relies on the twitterfeed, because the combination of Twitter, Youtube and Facebook has become an important tool for Iranians to spread the word of what's happening in their country. And Twitter users are spreading informations faster than the press ever could. You maybe have also already heard of the innocent twenty-seven year old woman named Neda, who's been taped on video after she was shot and then died in front of the camera. Many people have seen this footage already and because of its impact, it reminds me of that photograph from the vietnam war of a girl running away after a napalm attack on her village. There's a quote, that sums up what's been happening this weekend quite well: Today, the world participated in a war not with guns & weapons but with a mouse & keyboard.

Bits And Bobs #20

T-Shirt by Filatures du Lion, Chino Trousers by ASOS, Vintage Double Breasted Blazer (w/ book pages insert), Tassel Loafers by Acne, Vintage Greek Fisherman Hat

This simple grey t-shirt is one of my most favourite basic pieces in my wardrobe. It's made out of an unbelievable soft fabric: egyptian cotton, which is probably the softest and comfiest cotton available (I prefer it over cashmere anytime). The hem at the neck is stitched outside instead of inside, which is a nice little detail - and you probably all know by now how much I love such little details on a garment.

My Mistakes Were Made For You

Often, I'm just wearing one of my many old random t-shirts and some boxershorts at home. But sometimes I feel like I need to pick some proper clothes from my closet, especially when I'm walking around the house and do different stuff or get visitors. This cardigan is actually perfect to be worn just like that with nothing underneath. Add some linen trousers, roll them up et voilà you've got a perfect casual home outfit.

I recently wrote an article for Chictopia and it got published a few days ago. They asked me to write about my sources of inspiration fashion-wise and how I got into fashion in the first place. Click on the picture above to get to the article. Hope you've all enjoyed your weekend.

I went to Basel yesterday to visit the Art Basel, one of the world's most important art shows, featuring nearly 300 leading galleries from all over the world. But I didn't just go because of the art. I thought, it certainly must be a good opportunity to find fashionable people in Switzerland for my blog. But when I arrived, I was a bit disappointed not seeing as many as I hoped to. Maybe because I got there quite late. Maybe my expectations were too high. I already wanted to leave and head home to Zurich when I saw him walking towards. He immediately caught my attention. I knew I had to get his picture taken. His style is quite different to what I'm usually looking for. Also different to my own style. But I like it. Sometimes someone's outfit just hits you unexpectedly. After all, fashion is about individuality, isn't it? Just think about how different the last fashion show of Alber Elbaz was in comparison to Alexander McQueen's! I would have never expected to see someone like him in good old Switzerland. What a surprise. He wasn't Swiss though. French.

In Vogue

I recently ordered this book called In Vogue: The Illustrated History of The World's Most Famous Fashion Magazine and it finally arrived yesterday. I haven't had much time yet to take a proper look at it, since I'm still in the middle of my exams (two to go) but I quite like what I've seen and read so far. Next week is going to be great, because a) my exams will be over and b) Art Basel opens its doors. Hopefully, I'll meet some cool people there for my streetstyle entries.
On another note, I think my Sunday blog entries are now some sort of weekly update of stuff I want to tell you and photographs (by me), that I want to show you. I first wanted to take some pictures outside, but it started raining again, so I can only leave you with another picture of me in my bed.

Bits And Bobs #18

Striped T-Shirt by Weekday, Linen Trousers by H&M, Vintage Blazer from Paris, Oxfords by MOMA

I removed the belt buckle to be able to knot the belt together. I just had my first exam this semester (out of 5) and I'm incredibly tired, yet I somehow managed to take those photos and write an entry for you.
