Bits And Bobs #54

Shirt & Cardigan by Acne, Trousers by Topman, Sweater by COS, Scarf from my father, Shoes by Rachel Comey, Socks by American Apparel

Wow, it has been over two months since my last bits and bobs entry, because lately I haven't had as much time as I used to (mainly because of school and some travels during summer to Istanbul and London) and I always have several hours for an outfit entry. You have already seen a preview of this outfit on my last sunday entry. This knit cardigan out of Angora wool was my must-have for this fall and winter. It has got openings on the sleeve for your thumb to keep your hands warm while you can still use them just like with gloves. The long yarn of the Angora wool gives it quite a nice texture. Smooth woollen garments like pure Merino wool often look too dapper for my taste, especially in combination with a shirt. It is so comfy and warm that I wanna live in it. Also, I have never paid much attention to socks but this pair with a seed stitched pattern made me realise how crucial they can be to an outfit.

Svpply

A friend recently introduced me to Svpply. It is service where you can bookmark and find things found in online shops and retail sites. I often browse online shops and see something I like and this is a great way to collect everything at one place. In addition you can look at stuff saved by others by browsing the website and filter it according to your wishes. You can see my Svpply page here. I have one invitation to give away. If you want it just write a comment with three things you would bookmark and I will decide later in the week who gets it. peace-pipe won. Please contact me with your mail address.

Update: Actually, it is open-registration now.

Paris & Tokyo Spring 2011

I am probably the last blogger on earth to post my favourite collections from Paris, since it has already ended weeks ago but I didn't want to just skip it. Paris fashion week is always the most exciting one for me, because all the brands I like the most are there. Here are my favourites in alphabetical order and let me know in the comments which ones you loved.

Although the big fashion weeks are over, it doesn't mean there are no shows anymore. Tokyo fashion week is going on at the moment and there was one collection I liked so much, that I wanted to show it to you as well.

Marc Jacobs Advertising 1998-2009

I recently bought this book called Marc Jacobs Advertising 1998-2009 which contains all the photographs Juergen Teller took for Marc Jacobs during that time period. I have been a fan of Juergen Teller's work for quite a long time and he is among my favourites (Ryan McGinley, Walter Pfeiffer, Lina Scheynius and the Magnum ones). What I find interesting is that his photographs appear to be random snapshots at first but somehow possess their very own aesthetics. I am sure the settings and compositions are often put together very carefully despite how simple it might look. It is great for a brand like Marc Jacobs to collaborate with the same photographer for so long because it makes their advertisings instantly recognizable and gives them an own strong voice and identity. There are many celebrities and artists featured in the ads like Sofia Coppola, Dakota Fanning, Meg White and Ryan McGinley. I am pretty happy about the book and its quality, I only wished they would have made some of the horizontal pictures bigger than how they actually looked in the ad campaign.

Danielle

Lina Scheynius did it again. She shot this wonderful editorial and achieves to give the photographs this particular mood, that lets us immediately tell it is by her. She is one of my favourite photographers, because it does not matter what kind of photographs she takes, she always does it in her own way and gives them a certain "Lina vibe".

London & Milan Spring 2011

The fashion weeks for Spring 2011 are over and while many other bloggers have already posted all their favorites, I am a bit late as usual. My school is consuming a lot of my time, so I haven't had as much time to check out all the collections as I used to. In London and Milan, there are always only a few designers that I really like, which is also why my selection is rather small. In contradiction, I like so many collections I have seen so far from Paris, that I am already afraid to put them all in a single blog entry. But for now, here are my favourite runway collections from London and Milan. I would like to hear yours in the comments.

Photobooth

Do you remember my Sunday entry, where I posted pictures of me taken in an old-fashioned photobooth? My friend Steve Ellington filmed me during this session and made a little video about it. I think it turned out pretty cool. Check it out below and see more of his work on his blog.
