Bits And Bobs #72

T-Shirt by COS, Jacket by Whyred, Trousers by Acne, Shoes by Nike, Glasses by Moscot

This is probably one of my sportiest looks to date. I still can't really decide if I am in love with those Nikes or if they're actually heinous and I'm just kidding myself. I love the safari print though. The t-shirt from COS has this speckled melange texture. This lightweight rain jacket is perfect for warm summer days with short heavy showers throughout the day. I actually bought this jacket two years ago but have rarely worn it up until now. Makes me realise that I should hang on to things even if I don't like it at the moment, because it might change in a year or two.

Noma: Time And Place In Nordic Cuisine

If you are somewhat interested in the world of fine cuisine and gastronomy, you might have already heard about Noma or even seen the cookbook. I keep coming back to this book even after almost two years since it was first published. It has lots of beautiful photographs and recipes – do not assume you can easily re-create the dishes at home though. Noma was recognized as the best restaurant in the world by the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurant awards three times in a row now (since 2010). Head chef Rene Redzepi helped re-inventing Nordic cuisine, which is all about purity, simplicity, and freshness as well as increased use of seasonal local products. I have not been to Noma yet unfortunately, but fellow food blogger The Skinny Bib has and if you want to see more dishes and read about his experience follow this link. Many of you who are following me on Twitter or Instagram might know that I have developed a huge interest in food and the world of gastronomy in general, so there might be more entries in the future about all that.

Streetstyle Selection #16

Summer is here, which means you basically cannot wear more than one or two thin layers of clothes. I would love to post some streetstyle pictures more fitting to the current season (at least in Switzerland) but it seems like streetstyle blogs haven't caught up with summer just yet (considering the photos I like). So this entry comes more as a spring/fall inspiration and hopefully the next one will be packed with single layer summer outfits.

Item #1

Mismo M/S Backpack in Army Green/Cuoio

Since I don't post outfit entries as often as I should, I wanted to find another way to present stuff from my wardrobe on my blog. This is why I am starting a new category called Item today. I will mainly feature items, that I find special in a way or that I use or wear on a regular basis. Every now and then you see something that you know you immediately you got to have it. This is how I felt when I first saw this backpack by Danish brand Mismo. It took me a while until I was finally able to call it my own but I didn't want to buy any other backpack no matter what. I love the minimal design that looks chic without crying for too much attention. The backpack is made of very high materials like water-repellent Italian canvas, full grain leather and solid brass hardware. It has three pockets outside (middle one with button closure) and one pouch with zipper inside for smaller things. Everything is lined with cotton inside and there is also one big pocket with leather strap closure to fit your laptop or magazines and newspapers. It has so much space that I can easily carry around my camera gear, laptop, clothes and lots of other items. The flap top can be extended in case there is more space required and there are buttons on both sides for tightening. I have been using this backpack for several weeks now either when I was travelling abroad or for my everyday trips downtown and I wouldn't want to miss it anymore.

Spring 2013 Menswear

I had difficulties picking favourites this season but I want to specifically mention Thom Browne. I loved the way Thom Browne presented his collection. He sent models out all covered in silver make-up and hiding in a silver tube until every model reached their spot (there was a pair of shoes for each model waiting for them on the lawn) and they uncovered themselves all at once (as shown in this video). My other favourites are Acne and Givenchy. I love the use of different materials and shapes at Acne (those straw hats!!) and all the streetwear elements of Givenchy. Any other favourites?
