Shanghai Dreamers

Dior collaborated once again with Chinese photographer Quentin Shih, who produced a series of photographs with the latest couture collection, that will be displayed in their boutiques. By retouching and multiplying his subjects to form them together into an uniform pattern (in contradiction to the model, who stands out), he plays and provokes with the idea of Chinese mass culture.

    It's very interesting because it's a Chinese photograph's work and not an ocidental artist. So this series is not a prejudice's work but the thought of a Chinese man fascinated by the Occidental way of life. Nice blog.

    Strong concept. Totally reminds me of the works of another Chinese artist Yue Minjun (minus the models and Dior). The expression of the mass Chinese public is empty and severely repetitive. These photos truly exhibit a contrary nature.

    Read he was bashed pretty bad for this though.
