Blickfang, which means
eye-catcher in English, is a fair for designers from all sorts of areas like furniture, fashion, jewellery and home accessories. It's already running for the 13th year and depending on the location, there are about 150 - 220 Designers every year. They show innovative design and unique ideas apart the mass production, surely a good place to get inspired or buy interesting stuff you don't find at every corner.
It was my first time at
Blickfang this year, so I was looking forward to see how it is. A very important thing for a designer at such a fair is to have an interesting and
eye-catching stand, so people actually stop and have a look at your things. I made several rounds and photographed the most interesting stands and products to present a little selection to you.
Townhouse, as some of you might remember my
previous blog entry, is a concept store from Zurich and of course didn't miss the chance to be there as well.
Elf Elf is a Swiss label by Beat Huwyler, that produces simple and refined furnitures. The stand made me stop because it was all kept in black and white with the dishes being black contrary to the usual porcelain.
Superform is another producer of high-quality furniture. This is one of their racks with brackets, that can be put in individually and get the function of bookends.
Buttoneyes are little creatures made out of different fabrics and buttons. I liked the framed ones the best but you can buy them also seperately.
Fretsche takes recycling bicycles to another level. He collects old bicycles, deconstructs them, and uses the different parts to create a new one. All handmade of course.
QLOCKTWO by Biegert & Funk Product is a clock in square format, that shows time in a new and unique way. Get more infos about the product
